Description
At Rohrspitz the water level is a key feature how suitable this area is for birdwatching. Ususally bigger mudflats appear during sping, autumn and winter. Also the shallow water off the lakeside can be good for wintering and migrating diving ducks and divers ( Rață de ghețuri, Rață catifelată and Rață neagră , Rață cu cap negru, Cufundar mic, etc.). In winter this usually is the place where Lebădă de iarnă (and sometimes Tundra Swans with them) gather (if they are not feeding on the greenlands nearby off the lake). Often Culic mare gather on the small sandbanks before taking off to their sleeping grounds.
Mudflats in spring and summer can supply interesting waders and small sandpipers as well (e.g. Fluierar cu piept gălbui, Fugaci pătat, etc).
The lakeside often is good guiding line for migrating birds going south-north and and opposite (depending on season). The extensive reed meadows used to be one of the best places for meadow birds in Southern Central Europe with Culic mare, Sitar de mal, Becațină comună, Cristel de câmp and Mărăcinar mare breeding in high numbers. Numbers of all named species broke down, but restoration plans have been considered. Still these areas can be still interesting also during migration times and are worth checking.

Access
Rohrspitz is located near the town of Fußach. Free parking near the site is limited, but the restaurant "Glashaus" holds some (usually customers) and at the end of the road to the north (at the end of the camping). In between there is a paid parking. Press a P on the map for directions. You have to find the narrow road that exits to the right (west) within Höchst (signposted, but you can easily miss it). Other possibility is to come via Fußach, but then per pedes or with bicycle (no public road leading to Rohrspitz).
Note that during high season in summer time this area might be quite crowded.
