Description
These ponds are located near the border with Azerbaijan and close to Armenia’s most popular birdwatching spot Armash. However, unlike Armash, these ponds can be visited for free, without any permits or prior arrangements. During the spring migration season, around 40 bird species can be spotted here. In other seasons, there are significantly fewer birds.

Near the gate, there is a small building – the pond security post. If there are guards present, they will let you through without any issues, as long as you explain that you’re there to observe birds, not fish. Be cautious: after passing the security post, take a right turn. If you turn left (especially on foot), you’ll come across a doghouse hidden in the reeds, where a large dog is chained up. The dog is not visible from the path, so be aware.
