Mount Edgcumbe Park, once owned by the Edgcumbe family is now jointly run by Plymouth City Council and Caradon District Council.
Mount Edgcumbe Park/House and Gardens are Grade II listed, the north eastern end is at sea level, eventually rising quite steep as you progress further south. The South West Coast path with 24 hour access runs from Cremyll in the North to Rame in the South along it's eastern edge. The North part of the park is more open with sheltered gardens including trees and shrubs, the Middle section contains the house and Earl's Garden (FEE PAYABLE), with greater tree cover. The South section contains both extensive tree and shrub cover along side open grassland. There are many footpaths (some steep) enabling you to do many different circuits, the east side overlooks Plymouth Sound and north side overlooks the mouth of the River Tamar.
Follow the B3247 on the Cornwall south coastline, it turns inland and finishes at Cremyll. The Parks carparks signposted on the right are not 24hours, continue onto Cremyll and look for St Julian's Crescent Car Park (a bit hidden by trees and houses), all car parks are FEE PAYABLE and can get busy during Summer. Alternatively get (pedestrian and cycle) ferry from Plymouth City side (free car park). For those less able I suggest you keep to the North end of the park. The suggested route that is shown on the map is 3 km.
