You can see water birds and the song birds along the river area. It is also nice to visit the mouth of the river where the river flows into the sea. There are Gaivota-de-patas-amarelas, Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira and larks. When you go up to the upstream partyou can find Cegonha-preta, Pato-ferrugíneo, Pernilongo, Maçarico-das-rochas and many more. Furthermore, the area is nice with the flowering Nerium oleander in June and the sea shore.
