Alaçatı Wetland is a lagoon-like intertidal estuary covering approximately 250 acres, which is formed by a natural watercourse flowing north-south from the Kutlu Aktaş Dam to the Aegean Sea. The area abounds in halophiles marshes, dunes and shallow water channels, and a great variety of maquis or scrubland vegetation. The wetland provides feeding, shelter and breeding grounds for many bird species. Flamingo-comum is seen throughout the year. In addition, bird species such as Pato-ferrugíneo, Perna-verde-comum, Perna-vermelha-comum, Borrelho-de-coleira-interrompida, Pilrito-comum, Combatente, Pilrito-pequeno, Gaivota-de-patas-amarelas, Gaivina-de-faces-brancas, Abelharuco-comum, Andorinha-dáurica, Escrevedeira-cinzenta, Pernilongo, Fuinha-dos-juncos and Cegonha-preta are some of the other species seen in the area.
