Descrição
The Lachner Aahorn nature reserve is a renaturalized floodplain area on the banks of lake Obsersee. The elevated boardwalk footbridge over Brachsmenbucht goes through reed habitats. The boardwalk is equipped with information boards. From the observation tower you can oversee areas that cannot be entered. For birding the most interesting spot is the gravel bank at the end of the passage through the nature reserve. The passage is closed down completely during breeding season and the birds should not be disturbed. Outside of the breeding season, a passage leads right to the lake where you can hop onto a gravel bank and observe some parts of the protected lakeshore. The area is home to a variety of bird species, especially waterfowl and reed birds such as Merganso-grande , Zarro-bastardo or (with some luck) Guarda-rios-comum .

It is crucial to remember that the local power plant can dump enourmous amounts of water through the river Aa and the gravel bank can be partially flooded in literally no time. It is therefore forbidden to enter the riverbed. On the gravel bank, be prepared to pick up your equipment quickly and wear waterproof shoes as the water level can increase slightly for hours..
