Bärmatte is a small wetland where seemingly undisturbed by the nearby highway, a wide variety of birds can be observed. Frango-d'água and Mergulhão-pequeno nest in the reeds. A breeding wall specially built for this species houses a colony of Andorinha-das-barreiras. Bärmatte is also a regionally important resting place for waders. Also habitat of more than 20, partly rare dragonfly species.
