Utlängan is an island in the Karlskrona archipelago. The island is situated the furthest out to sea of any of the archipelago's islands. Utlängan is approximately 3 km long and 1.5 km across. The island covers just over 215 hectares. 329 bird species have been recorded at Utlängan. Along the coastal meadows and seaweed rich bays waders often rest. Most of them are found in early May and from late July-August. The most common species are: Perna-vermelha-comum, Pilrito-comum andBorrelho-grande-de-coleira. Many rarer species like Falaropo-de-bico-fino, Narceja-galega and Pilrito-falcinelo are regularly found.
Utlängen is an excellent observation area for migration. Thousands of migrating Ganso-de-faces-brancas, Ganso-de-faces-negras, Pato-preto, Pato-fusco, Eider-edredão, Andorinha-do-mar-comum, Grou-comum, Pato-de-cauda-afilada and Maçarico-real can be found. The area is one of the best in Sweden when it comes to migrating waterfowl.
The island is a last stopover in Sweden for many migrating passerine birds during migration season. Large amounts of Felosa-musical (has been seen in the thousands), Lugre (Has been seen in the thousands), Estorninho-malhado and Estrelinha-de-poupa can often be found. The area is often visited by rare eastern warblers like Estrelinha de Pallas, Felosa-bilistada and Toutinegra-gavião. Other rare passerine birds sometimes found are Papa-figos, Sombria and Estrelinha-de-cabeça-listada.

To get to the island you need to take a ferry from Yttre Park. Parking can be done there. Click on the P in the map to get directions to Yttre Park. The ferry goes a couple times a day (see the link below for time table). Utlängans harbour, called Stenshamn, is an island in its own right and is linked by bridge to Utlängan proper.
