Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, Águia-rabalva, Chasco-cinzento, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as Perna-vermelha-comum, Ostraceiro, Combatente, Maçarico-real, Maçarico-de-bico-direito, Alfaiate and Pilrito-comum, but also other species such as Andorinha-do-mar-anã, Gaivina-de-bico-vermelho and Andorinha-do-mar-árctica. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of Ganso-de-faces-brancas can be seen in the area.
