Skillingaryds Dämme was built as a water treatment plant. Measures taken in recent years have resulted in a new wetland and wet meadows. The new environment with shallow ponds and bushes attracts birds like Frango-d'água, Galinha-d'água, alvéola-branca, Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira, Andorinha-das-barreiras, Guarda-rios-comum, Maçarico-das-rochas and Pato-olho-d'ouro.
