Kalmar Dämme is a nice area for bird watching with many trails around ponds and several lookout points. Due to the various biotopes such as ponds, reed beds, shrubs, forest, meadows, a variety of birds can be seen in the area. Kalmar Dämme has a Garça-real colony. Among the other birds you can encounter are Pato-trombeteiro, Marreco, Merganso-grande, Frango-d'água, Ógea, Milhafre-real, Águia-rabalva, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Toutinegra-de-barrette-preto and Andorinha-do-mar-comum.

The area is located just before Kalmar, coming from E22 Nybro. Take the exit Kalmar Dämme. On the parking there is room for trucks, campers and cars. If it is full there, drive on and turn right, 2 x, you will come to a larger parking lot.
