In and around Gammalsby Sjömarker 308 birds have been recorded (299 at Sebybadet, and 271 at Gräsgårds hamn). Gammalsby Sjömarker is one of Ölands most important resting places for waders during the spring migration. The wide coastal meadows and shallow waters often hold tens of thousands of Pilrito-comum, thousands of Tarambola-dourada, Abibe-comum, Fuselo and Tarambola-cinzenta. Many rare wading birds have been seen during the spring and autumn migration.
Gammals by sjömarker is also an important resting place for geese, especially Ganso-de-faces-brancas. From Gammalsby Sjömaker large amounts of migrating geese, ducks, waders, terns, gulls and passeringe birds can often be found.
