Fysingen nature reserve has almost 100 breeding species and is a popular birding destination for it's waders, geese and other waterbirds. But also to see birds of prey. The beach meadows with mighty reed belts are bird protection areas and also rich in birds.
Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis can be seen flying low over the reeds, but you can also see birds of prey such as Ógea, peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro, Búteo-calçado and Águia-pesqueira. The Águia-rabalva has its nest on the island Stora Kyngan in the middle of the lake. You can also hear the honking of Abetouro-comum and the Rouxinol-russo sings through the night. Other nice birds you might see are Pintarroxo-carmíneo, Pato-olho-d'ouro, Merganso-pequeno, Grou-comum, Rouxinol-grande-dos-caniços, Combatente and Perna-vermelha-escuro.
