There are new, raised, footbridges laid during the summer of 2021 so it is easy to get to the bird observation tower even if there is a little more water in the marsh that often overflows during April-May. However, early spring may be more flooded closer to the tower, so long boots (wellingtons) are a good idea. The nearby farmland is also good for small birds, such as Pica-pau-malhado-pequeno, Pisco-de-peito-azul and Pica-pau-preto. Among the other birds you can encounter in the area are Cisne-bravo, Pato-olho-d'ouro, Ganso-comum, Ganso do Canadá, Grou-comum, Maçarico-real, Marrequinha-comum, Ógea and Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis.
