Descrição
Despite its small size La Marjal dels Moros is home to some large bird populations of several species, including seriously endangered species. One of the highlights in springtime are the flocks of different types of wading birds that come here to breed, including colonies of Andorinha-do-mar-comum, Andorinha-do-mar-anã, Perdiz-do-mar, Gaivina-de-faces-brancas and Pernilongo. There is also a large breeding population of Pato-de-bico-vermelho, which is increasingly rare in Valencia. The Pardilheira is another endangered species that breeds here, and the Marjal marks its northernmost location in Europe. In wintertime you can see large flocks of Garça-branca-pequena and Pato-trombeteiro, as well as spectacular gatherings of Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas, and it is not uncommon to see Flamingo-comum, Garça-branca-grande or Íbis-preta. Other nice birds you can see include Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Mergulhão-pequeno, Galinha-d'água, Caimão and Guarda-rios-comum.
