Estany de Banyoles is a natural lake located in northeastern Catalonia and named after the nearby town of Banyoles. The lake is approximately 2,100 m by 750 m with an average depth of 15 m that in several points gets down to 46.4 metres. It is located in a natural tectonic depression. There are always birds to see, but note that in the summer, the number of birds is significantly lower. Among the birds you can observe are Cegonha-branca, Papa-figos, Rouxinol-grande-dos-caniços, Guincho-comum, Gaivota-de-patas-amarelas, Guarda-rios-comum, Poupa, Fuinha-dos-juncos, Rouxinol-bravo, Rouxinol-comum, Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas and Corvo.

Estany de Banyoles is located in the town of Banyoles, in the province of Girona, in northeastern Catalonia. Press P on the map for directions to a parking. You can walk all the way around the lake (6,5 km). The northern part of the lake is the best part for birdwatching.
