The finca “La Moheda Alta” is part of the network of protected areas in Extremadura. It is an old dehesa with surrounding agricultural areas, both grain fields and rice fields. A walk has been plotted in the area that ends at a bird watching screen. From there the rice fields can be overlooked, which is especially interesting in winter because of the large numbers of Grou-comum that forage here. At the beginning is an information center about the area. In autumn the annual Grou-comum festival “festival de las Grullas” is organized here. The area is interesting in winter because of the Grou-comum , but a visit is also worthwhile in other seasons. There are also regularly other birds on the fields: waders, Cegonha-preta and sometimes Flamingo-comum are seen here. The dehesa itself is at its best in the spring. This is where the typical dehesa birds live: Poupa, Pega-azul, picanço-real and Picanço-barreteiro.
