La Bassa del Dofí is a small artificial wetland that that is nice for birding. It is a pond surrounded by hedges and reeds that is located on the Castell d’Aro plain (next to the Fire Station). It has an observatory with information panels. This pond recreates, albeit in a minimal way, the old marshes that were once located here. You can encounter ducks, herons, Mergulhão-pequeno and birds like Papa-figos, Guarda-rios-comum, Rouxinol-comum, alvéola-branca, Rouxinol-bravo, Toutinegra-de-cabeça-preta and Bico-de-lacre. Also many birds stop here to rest during their migratory journeys. Also rare species like Gaivina-d'asa-branca and Pato-mandarim can sometimes be seen. In the winter, species from the north take refuge in the pond. Groups of two hundred Dom-fafe have gathered here to sleep.
