Descrição
Radensko Polje is a small karst plain south-east of Ljubljana. The landscape is a mosaic of wet meadows, fields, hedgerows and surrounding forest edges, creating a rich variety of habitats within a compact area.
The plain is home to Cegonha-branca, Garça-real, Garça-roxa, Garça-branca-grande and Garça-branca-pequena. Seasonal floods attract ducks such as Zarro-comum, Marrequinha-comum, Piadeira and Zarro-negrinha, as well as Maçarico-das-rochas and Pássaro-bique-bique, while Guarda-rios-comum can be found along streams. Raptors include Águia-d'asa-redonda , peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro and Açor, with Falcão-de-pés-vermelhos passing during migration. Warblers and several woodpeckers add to the diversity.
Though not the easiest birding location - birds tend to be elusive and the terrain challenging - Radensko Polje rewards patience with excellent birdlife and scenic karst landscape.
