Around Katunić you can see many species of birds. The road that gets you there is already very bird rich. Along the mountain path you can see Quebra-nozes, Pica-pau-preto, Pica-pau-cinzento, Trepadeira-azul, Galinha-do-mato and many other birds. At the plateau you can see Cartaxo-comum, peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro, Ógea, Codornizão and some others. At the mountain top there are some rocky areas where you can see Chasco-cinzento, Perdiz-das-rochas, Peneireiro-das-torres, Grifo-comum, Melro-das-rochas, Petinha-de-garganta-ruiva and Águia-cobreira.

You can park at the mountain lodge and then hike from there. Also there are some ways of getting to the plateau by car but for thaty a 4x4 terrain car is needed. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the mountain lodge.
