It is a hilly area, with pieces of dense forest with a chance of seeing various woodpeckers. Other parts are open with thickets where Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Petinha-dos-campos, Papa-amoras-comum, Pardal-montez, Cotovia-pequena, Cartaxo-comum, Picanço-pequeno and Cuco-canoro can be seen. There are also sand walls where Abelharuco-comum nests. Along the rivers the Papa-figos sings, which can also be seen very well from the higher hills. The Poupa calls out loud and is especially visible on treetops. The Corvo is also active and several birds of prey patrol the area. Various bird species are also present in the reeds.
