Due to the presence of shallow pools, the Vadu area is popular with waders such as Pilrito-falcinelo, Pernilongo, Pilrito de Temminck, Pilrito-pequeno, Borrelho-de-coleira-interrompida and Falaropo-de-bico-fino. In spring and autumn it is a good place for migratory birds. But also in summer many marsh birds such as Garça-roxa, Íbis-preta, Gaivina-de-faces-brancas, Socó-taquari, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Franga-d'água-bastarda and Felosa-agrícola are breeding in this area.
