The Balta Sanpaul Fishponds are ponds with reedbeds and a grazing area for sheep and cattle. Habitat for waterfowl, waders, rails, herons and birds of prey. Birds you can observe in the area include Gaivina-d'asa-branca, Chapim-de-bigode, Pombo-bravo, Borrelho-grande-de-coleira, Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira, Águia-pesqueira, Cegonha-preta, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Zarro-castanho and Narceja-galega.

The Balta Sanpaul Fishponds are located just outside the village of Sanpaul. Acces by car, parking in front of the fishpond security gate. Press P on the map for directions. Public transport from Odorheiu Secuiesc or Baraolt. Best explored by foot. Allow yourself 2-3 hours for a visit. Note: The platform is in decay. Not safe. There are 2 hides, but these are not accessible for the public.
