Sete Cidades has two large lagoons: Lagoa Verde and Lagoa Azul. It’s one of the best places on the island to find migrant and other bird species. I recommend visiting this beautiful place during the week and early in the morning to avoid the crowds. Among the birds you can see here are Piadeira, Piadeira-americana, Zarro-de-colar, Mergulhão-caçador, Andorinha-do-mar-comum, Estrelinha-de-poupa, Toutinegra-de-barrette-preto, melro, Pisco-de-peito-ruivo, Estorninho-malhado, Tentilhão-comum and Garça-real.

For parking, the best place is the free parking situated in the sandy area of Lagoa Verde (there are a lot of domestic ducks in this sandy area, so you’ll probably recognize without problems. Best seen on foot to explore the area and bring your telescope!
