Descrição
Marvão Castle stands at a height of 843 metres above sea level in the Serra de São Mamede. The crag on which it stands is a fairly rugged escarpment, forming a natural point of defence, to which access can only be gained from the east, the direction in which the village has spread inside the walls. From here it was possible to watch over the nearby frontier with Spain. In Marvão they say that you are at such a height that you can see the backs of the vultures and raptors flying by. You can see rare birds such as Águia de Bonelli, the symbol of this protected area, as well as Grifo-comum and Águia-cobreira. But also Andorinhão-preto, Andorinhão-pálido and Andorinhão-real. With a little luck you can see Melro-azul.
