Descrição
This spot is located 30 km north of Porto on the northern riverside of Ave estuary, where on low tide some mudflats become accessible for birds to forage. There is a nearby dock where gulls congregate. There (and looking from there to the southern river side), it's possible to spot Gaivota-de-patas-amarelas (all year around) but it particularly pays off to keep and eye on gulls during winter since it's possible to find gaivota-da-asa-escura, Guincho-comum, Gaivota-de-cabeça-preta, Gaivota-parda and Alcatraz-comum. On the mudflats it's easy to spot Rola-do-mar and Maçarico-das-rochas. During migration the mudflats serve as a stopover site for waders and it's possible to spot Maçarico-real, Fuselo and Maçarico-de-bico-direito. On the trees and garden spaces its possible to find melro, Pisco-de-peito-ruivo, Pintassilgo, Toutinegra-de-barrette-preto, chapim-real, Chamariz-comum and Cotovia-de-poupa, to name just a few.
