The most interesting birds on the ponds that nest in the area are: Mergulhão-de-crista , Mergulhão-de-pescoço-ruivo , Mergulhão-de-pescoço-preto , Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas , Abetouro-comum , Ganso-comum , Frisada , Guincho-comum , Andorinha-do-mar-comum , Franga-d'água-grande , Franga-d'água-bastarda and Pisco-de-peito-azul . During the migration, migrating birds stop on the ponds and the nearby fields. Their total number amounts to several thousand individuals. Among them, the following birds have been recorded: Mobêlha-árctica , Cisne-bravo , Cisne-pequeno , Ganso-de-faces-brancas , Pato-branco , Fuselo and Pernilongo.
