Salvøy is an island located on the west side of Karmøy in Rogaland. The island is connected to the mainland by an embankment to Ospøynå and from there a bridge to Karmøy. The sheltered bays around Salvøy are a good place for observing ducks, loons and grebes in winter. Among the birds you can spot are Mergulhão-pequeno, Arau-d'asa-branca, Mergulhão-de-pescoço-castanho, Mobêlha-pequena, Mobêlha-grande, Merganso-de-poupa, Pato-preto, Mergulhão-de-pescoço-ruivo, Águia-rabalva, Cisne-vulgar, Arau-comum, Gaivota-argêntea and Alcatraz-comum.
