The meadows between lake Vroonmeer and the picturesque village of Krommeniedijk are a good place to look for meadow birds in the spring when the meadows are partly flooded. The wet grasslands attract a lot of different bird species in a relatively small area. The big crowd puller is the Maçarico-de-bico-direito which is present in large numbers every year. Other birds you can see in the area include Maçarico-real, Frisada, Petinha-dos-prados, Ostraceiro, Perna-vermelha-comum, Colhereiro, Marrequinha-comum, alvéola-amarela, Alfaiate en Abibe-comum.

Nederlands: De weilanden ten tussen het Vroonmeer en het schilderachtige lintdorp Krommeniedijk zijn in het voorjaar een goeie plek om weidevogels. Omdat de weilanden elk voorjaar onder water worden gezet, kunnen de weidevogels hier genoeg voedsel vinden. Er zijn een hoop verschillende soorten te zien op een relatief klein stukje. De grote publiekstrekker is de Maçarico-de-bico-direito die in grote getale elk jaar aanwezig is. Andere vogels die je in het gebied kunt zien zijn onder meer Maçarico-real, Frisada, Petinha-dos-prados, Ostraceiro, Perna-vermelha-comum, Colhereiro, Marrequinha-comum, alvéola-amarela, Alfaiate en Abibe-comum.

The Vroonmeer is located between Uitgeest and Krommeniedijk. You can easily combine the visit to the meadows at Vroonmeer with a visit to Fort bij Krommeniedijk. It is best to explore the area on foot or by bike to watch birds. If you come by car, you can park your car at the fort. Click on the P on the map for directions to the parking lot. However, it is a small parking lot and can be full. There is also a bird hide at the fort.
The area itself is not accessible, but is easily visible from the Lagendijk. On both sides of the dike, towards Uitgeest or towards the provincial road, there are restaurants with toilets and also a petrol station.

Nederlands: Het Vroonmeer ligt tussen Uitgeest en Krommeniedijk. Je kunt het bezoek aan de weilanden bij het Vroonmeer goed combineren met een bezoek aan Fort bij Krommeniedijk. Het beste verken je het gebied te voet of op de fiets om vogels te kijken. Wanneer je met de auto komt, kun je de auto parkeren bij het fort. Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar de parkeerplaats. Het is echter een kleine parkeerplaats en het kan er vol zijn. Bij het fort is ook een vogelkijkhut.
Het gebied zelf kun je niet in, maar het is goed te overzien vanaf de Lagendijk. Aan beide kanten van de dijk dus richting Uitgeest of richting de provinciale weg zijn eetgelegenheden met toilet en ook een benzinestation.
