The outlet at Katwijk is a popular spot for birdwatchers, especially during the bird migration. You have a good chance of seeing rare birds. Due to its location on the coast and the abundance of food, the area attracts many species of land and sea birds. Species such as Ganso-de-faces-negras , Piadeira , Ostraceiro , Alfaiate , Andorinha-do-mar-comum , Garajau-comum , alvéola-branca and various species of gulls.
During the migration in bad weather, this place offers birds a sheltered spot. So you can suddenly encounter a rare seabird, or a Felosa-bilistada. In the surrounding dunes you will encounter the typical dune birds, such as Pintassilgo, Pisco-de-peito-azul, Cartaxo-comum and, peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro.
From the ''Puinhoop'', the highest dune, you have a beautiful view of the sea. On the beach you can find, among other birds Pilrito-sanderlingo, Borrelho-grande-de-coleira, Gaivota-argêntea and other gulls. The bird migration counting station that is located nearby is therefore very popular with bird watchers, when thousands of birds pass by.

Nederlands: Het kleine gebied rondom de uitwatering bij Katwijk is een populaire plek bij vogelaars, vooral tijdens de vogeltrek. Je hebt er dan een leuke kans op zeldzame vogels. Tijdens de trek zoeken de vogels hier rust en beschutting. Door de ligging aan de kust en de overvloed aan voedsel trekt het gebied veel soorten land- en zeevogels aan. Soorten zoals Ganso-de-faces-negras , Piadeira , Ostraceiro , Alfaiate , Andorinha-do-mar-comum , Garajau-comum , alvéola-branca en diverse soorten meeuwen.
Tijdens de trek bij slecht weer biedt deze plek vogels een een beschutte plek. Zo kan je dan opeens een zeldzame zeevogel of een Felosa-bilistada tegenkomen. In de omliggende duinen kom je de typische duinvogels tegen, zoals de Pintassilgo, Pisco-de-peito-azul, Cartaxo-comum en peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro.
Op de ''Puinhoop'', het hoogste duin, kan je mooi uitkijken over zee. Op het strand zijn er onder andere Pilrito-sanderlingo, Borrelho-grande-de-coleira, Gaivota-argêntea en andere meeuwen te vinden. De vogeltrektelpost die zich in de buurt bevindt is daarom ook zo populair onder vogelspotters, wanneer duizenden vogels voorbijtrekken.

Uitwatering Katwijk is located near the sea in the town of Katwijk aan Zee. There is a large (paid) parking lot near the outlet. Press the P on the map for directions to the parking lot.
