The Wimmenummer dunes are located north of Egmond aan Zee. One of the attractions in the Wimmenummerduinen is the Starrevlak, a beautiful area with narrow dune paths, puddles, pools and damp valleys. You can see different types of ducks, geese and grebes from the walking path around the lake or from the bird hide. In the thickets around the pond you have a chance to see Cotovia-pequena, papa-amoras-cinzento and Felosa-malhada. There are always birds to see. Many Cartaxo-comum. Also Pintarroxo-comum and Pisco-de-peito-azul. If you walk along the beach you can also observe beach birds.

Nederlands: Ten noorden van het Egmond aan Zee liggen de Wimmenummerduinen. Een van de trekpleisters in de Wimmenummerduinen is het Starrevlak, een prachtig gebied met smalle duinpaadjes, plassen, poelen en vochtige valleien. Vanaf het wandelpad rondom de plas of vanuit de vogelkijkhut kun je verschillende soorten eenden, ganzen en futen zien. In het struweel rondom de plas maak je kans op Cotovia-pequena, papa-amoras-cinzento en Felosa-malhada. Er zijn altijd vogels te zien. Veel Cartaxo-comum. Ook Pintarroxo-comum en Pisco-de-peito-azul. Als je via het strand loopt kun je ook nog leuke strandvogels zien.

Parking at t Woud. Click on a P in the map for directions. There you can also buy an entrance ticket for the area. Sometimes I first cycle down the cycle path to the footpath. Another option is the Kerdijk dune entrance in Egmond aan Zee. From there it is a 15-minute walk to the Starrevlak. From the bird hide on the west side you have a good view over the water.

Nederlands: Parkeren bij t Woud. Klik op een P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving. Daar kun je ook toegangskaartje kopen voor het gebied (in een automaat). Soms fiets ik eerst een stuk het fietspad af tot aan het voetpad. Andere optie is duiningang Kerdijk in Egmond aan Zee. Vandaar is het 15 minuten lopen naar het Starrevlak. Vanuit de vogelkijkhut aan de westzijde heb je een goed uitzicht over het water.

Nederlands: Als je eerst een rondje wilt lopen zijn de afstanden wat groter want er zijn weinig zijwegen. Ik neem soms vanaf de parkeerplaats de fiets en rijd het fietspad af tot aan het wandelpad en dan langs de zee terug.
