The Rammekenshoek nature reserve consists of beach, creeks, reed beds, forest and an old sea fort. In the 'canals' around the fort you can see different types of water birds. Outside the dike lies the only remaining salt marsh of the area. It is an area washed up by the sea with creeks, mudflats, salt-loving plants and coastal breeding birds such as Perna-vermelha-comum, Ostraceiro and Alfaiate. In the reed beds that you can find throughout the area, Felosa-dos-juncos, rouxinol-dos-caniços, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços and Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis breed in the summer and in the winter you regularly encounter Chapim-de-bigode. A Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas colony is present in the forest for many years and you can also find many species of forest birds. Birds that you can encounter in the area include Felosa-das-figueiras, Felosa-palustre, Pato-branco, Pássaro-bique-bique, Perna-verde-comum, Colhereiro, Mergulhão-pequeno, Garça-branca-pequena and Pica-pau-verde.

Nederlands: Natuurgebied Rammekenshoek bestaat uit strand, kreken, rietkragen, bos en een oud zeefort. In de 'grachten' rond het fort kun je verschillende soorten watervogels zien. Buitendijks ligt het nog enige schor van Walcheren. Het is een door de zee opgewassen gebied met prielen, slibranden, zoutminnende planten en kustbroedvogels als Perna-vermelha-comum, Ostraceiro en Alfaiate. In de rietkragen die je in het hele gebied kunt vinden, broeden in de zomer Felosa-dos-juncos, rouxinol-dos-caniços, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços en Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis en in de winter tref je er regelmatig Chapim-de-bigode. In het bos zit al jarenlang een Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas kolonie en kun je veel soorten bosvogels aantreffen. Vogels die je in het gebied verder kunt tegenkomen zijn Felosa-das-figueiras, Felosa-palustre, Pato-branco, Pássaro-bique-bique, Perna-verde-comum, Colhereiro, Mergulhão-pequeno, Garça-branca-pequena en Pica-pau-verde.
