Recreational area De Uitwaayer has been located between Maaswijk and the Spui since 2014. The Willemspolder, Wolvenpolder and parts of the Oude and Nieuwe Uitslag van Putten have been transformed into an accessible wetland area where many birds can also be seen. The northern part of the Wolvenpolder is dry. More to the south it gets wetter. There is a pool of water where water and meadow birds come to forage. Many species of ducks, including Pato-branco, Pato-trombeteiro and Arrabio can often be admired here. Abibe-comum, Alfaiate, Maçarico-de-bico-direito and Escrevedeira-dos-caniços also feel at home here. There is a floating bird hide from which the birds can be viewed. Floating, because the water level can vary considerably from season to season.

Nederlands: Tussen Maaswijk en het Spui ligt sinds 2014 recreatiegebied De Uitwaayer. De Willemspolder, Wolvenpolder en delen van de Oude en Nieuwe Uitslag van Putten zijn veranderd in een toegankelijk natuur- en groengebied waar ook veel vogels te zien zijn. Het noordelijke gedeelte van de Wolvenpolder is droog. Meer naar het zuiden wordt het natter. Er ligt een plas water waar water- en weidevogels komen fourageren. Veel soorten eenden, waaronder Bergeend, Slobeend en Pijlstaart zijn hier vaak te bewonderen. Ook Kievit, Kluut, Grutto en Rietgors voelen zich hier thuis. Er is een drijvende vogelkijkhut van waaruit de vogels bekeken kunnen worden. Drijvend, omdat het waterpeil per seizoen nogal kan variëren.

From the Groene Kruisweg towards Spijkenisse, turn right at the roundabout onto the ring road and follow the signs with the ferry towards Nw. Follow Beijerland. Before you arrive at the ferry at the Spui, turn left onto the Aaldijk. You keep following it until the parking space at the Wolvenpolder. Click on the P in the map to get directions. The circular walk that you see on the map below is about 3 km long.

Nederlands: Vanaf de Groene Kruisweg richting Spijkenisse bij de rotonde rechtsaf slaan de ringweg op en de borden met het pontje richting Nw. Beijerland volgen. Vóórdat je bij de pont aan het Spui aankomt, ga je linksaf de Aaldijk op. Die blijf je volgen tot de parkeerplek bij de Wolvenpolder. De rondwandeling die je ziet op de kaart beneden is zo'n 3 km lang.
