The area is easily accessible with a walking path around the two lakes. It is unique to have such an area so close to the city. Common reedbirds like Felosa-dos-juncos, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços and rouxinol-dos-caniços breed in the reedbeds. Other birds that can be heard or seen are Maçarico-de-bico-direito, Pato-branco, Alfaiate, Colhereiro and Pisco-de-peito-azul. Numerous geese and duck species can be seen.
The unpaved trails lead right past puddles full of waders and geese. The Abibe-comum stunt around you to divert attention from their nests.
