Nature reserve Het Klooster is not very large and only has one path running through it, but there are many water and marsh birds to be seen. It is a small wetland with ponds, many ditches, reed beds and scattered trees and shrubs. The Schalkwijkse Wetering stream flows through the area. There is a large bunker in the middle of the area. Birds that you can encounter in the area include Alfaiate, Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira, Maçarico-das-rochas, Perna-vermelha-comum, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Papa-amoras-comum, Cartaxo-comum, Andorinha-do-mar-comum, Pisco-de-peito-azul, Felosa-palustre, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços and various species of ducks and geese.

Nederlands: Natuurgebied Het Klooster is niet heel groot en er loopt maar 1 pad doorheen, maar er wel zijn veel water- en moerasvogels te zien. Het is een klein wetland met poelen, veel sloten, rietkragen en verspreide bomen en struiken. De Schalkwijkse Wetering stroomt door het gebied. Midden in het terrein staat een grote bunker. Vogels die je in het gebied kunt tegenkomen zijn onder meer Alfaiate, Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira, Maçarico-das-rochas, Perna-vermelha-comum, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Papa-amoras-comum, Cartaxo-comum, Andorinha-do-mar-comum, Pisco-de-peito-azul, Felosa-palustre, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços en diverse soorten eenden en ganzen.

Nature reserve Het Klooster is located between the towns of Nieuwegein and Houten at the junction of the Amsterdam-Rijn Canal and the Lek Canal. Parking is available at Het Klooster business park in Nieuwegein. Press P on the map for directions to a parking space.
