Descrição

The Rif is a wide salt marsh and sandbank that has grown together on the southwest side of the island of Schiermonnikoog. Thanks to the height of the salt marsh, it is a safe refuge during high tides in the Wadden Sea. Thousands of birds come to rest there. But the reef is also an important breeding area for many birds. During the breeding season (from May to August) the area is not accessible so that the birds get enough rest. But even then you can still have a beautiful view of The Rif from the path that runs along the edge of the salt marsh, between the lake Westerplas and the beach of Westerstrand.
