The Herbertusbossen is an old forest area with high deciduous and coniferous wood near the castle of Heeze, east of the village. It is connected to the Strabrechtse Heide (described on Birdingplaces, see separate entry). The estate used to be part of the Heeze Castle. The forest is rich in species and has impressive old trees. Where the area changes into the Strabrechtse heath, there are fens and heaths with juniper and gale shrubs. Birds to be seen in the area include five species of woodpeckers and also Galinhola, Bútio-vespeiro, Açor, Chapim-preto, Chapim-de-poupa, Coruja-do-mato, Papa-moscas-preto, Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Rabirruivo-de-testa-branca, Lugre, Petinha-das-árvores, Felosa-assobiadeira and Estrelinha-de-poupa.

Nederlands: De Herbertusbossen is een oud bosgebied met hoogopgaand loof- en naaldhout nabij het kasteel van Heeze, oostelijk van het dorp. Het sluit aan bij de Strabrechtse Heide en landgoed de Lange Bleek bij Sterksel. Het landgoed hoorde vroeger bij het Kasteel Heeze en is sinds 1973 in het bezit van het Brabants Landschap. De bossen zijn soortenrijk en bevatten imposante oude bomen. Waar het gebied overgaat in de Strabrechtse heide komen vennetjes voor en heiden met jeneverbes en gagelstruiken. Vogels die je in het gebied kunt zien zijn onder meer vijf soorten spechten, Galinhola, Bútio-vespeiro, Açor, Chapim-preto, Chapim-de-poupa, Coruja-do-mato, Papa-moscas-preto, Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo, Rabirruivo-de-testa-branca, Lugre, Petinha-das-árvores, Felosa-assobiadeira en Estrelinha-de-poupa.

You can park in the parking lot at the Boschlaan. Click on the P in the map for directions. Two walking routes have been set out from the parking lot. The longest route (marked with red poles.) is marked on the map and is about 4 km.
