Depending on the season and the tide, a wide variety of bird species can dominate the view. Meadow birds and shorebirds awaiting the low tide on the Wadden Sea, but also ducks, geese and swans may be present in large numbers.

Nederlands: Het gebied van Drijvers Vogelweid de Bol is opgebouwd uit verschillende waterplassen met elk een eigen karakter, met een oer-Hollandse windmolen die boven alles uit torent. Afhankelijk van het seizoen en het getij kan een grote verscheidenheid aan vogelsoorten hier worden gezien. Weidevogels en kustvogels die wachten op het laagwater op de Waddenzee, maar ook eenden, ganzen en zwanen kunnen in grote aantallen aanwezig zijn.

The area has two entrances, one in the west (Zwinweg) and one in the east, along the Vogelboulevard (Bird Boulevard), stretching out along the east coast of Texel.

The farmer that used to be here, Drijver, was a birdwatcher and kept the area in good shape for birds. Most people refer to the area as 'The Bol', but in honour of his legacy, the full name of the area is Drijvers Vogelweid de Bol (Drijver's Bird Meadow The Bol).
