Flow fields and the flow lake of the former potato flour factory Oranje, which is now Speelstad Oranje. After closing the factory, this flow field system was transformed into the bird sanctuary Diependal. You can see many birds here, but the highlight of this bird sanctuary is Mergulhão-de-pescoço-ruivo, that breeds in the area and is very rare to see elsewhere in The Netherlands. But the area is also unique because of the 162-meter tunnel that leads to the bird hide in the middle of the area.

Nederlands: Uniek natuurgebied op de voormalige vloeivelden van aardappelmeelfabriek Oranje, waar nu speelstad Oranje is gevestigd. Na sluiting van de fabriek is het gebied omgevormd tot vogelreservaat Diependal. Je kunt hier veel vogels zien, maar het hoogtepunt van dit vogelreservaat is de Mergulhão-de-pescoço-ruivo die in het gebied broedt en in de rest van Nederland uiterst zeldzaam is. Het gebied is overigens ook bijzonder vanwege de 162 meter lange tunnel die naar de vogelkijkhut midden in het gebied voert.

From the car park, the area is only accessible on foot or by bike. Parking is only allowed in the spot indicated on the map, on the side of a road opposite a farm. Click on the P in the map for directions to that place. From the parking lot it is about a one kilometer walk to the bird hide. The bird hide is in the middle of the area, has comfortable benches and a view of various lakes in all directions. There is also a birdwatching screen a little further on. The circular walk on the map is 3.4 km and runs from the car park past both viewing points. Note: Due to hibernating bats, the bird hide is closed in winter from December 1 to March 1. The viewing wall is accessible.

Nederlands: Vanaf de parkeerplaats is het gebied alleen te voet of met de fiets toegankelijk. Parkeren is alleen toegestaan op de plek die is aangegeven op de kaart, aan de zijkant van een weg tegenover een boerderij. Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar die plek. Vanaf de parkeerplaats is het ongeveer een kilometer lopen naar de vogelkijkhut, waarvan de laatste 160 meter dus door een tunnel. Via een wenteltrap kom je uiteindelijk boven in de vogelkijkhut. De hut staat midden in het gebied, heeft houten bankjes en uitzicht op verschillende plassen in alle windrichtingen. Als je de vogelkijkhut weer verlaat via de tunnel is er ook nog een vogelkijkscherm iets verderop. Dit scherm geeft zicht op de grootste plas, zit weliswaar wat verder van het water af, maar moet je zeker niet overslaan, want er zijn ook vaak veel vogels te zien. De rondwandeling op de kaart is 3,4 km en loopt vanaf de parkeerplaats langs beide kijkpunten. Let op: Vanwege overwinterende vleermuizen is de vogelkijkhut 's winters gesloten van 1 december tot 1 maart. De kijkwand is wel toegankelijk.

The special feature of the bird hide in Diependal is that access is via an underground corridor. This way you will be in the middle of the area without disturbing anything. From the cabin you have a beautiful view over the flow fields. In the summer, the Mergulhão-de-pescoço-ruivo breeds here, but you can also expect Mergulhão-de-pescoço-preto here.

Nederlands: Het bijzondere van de vogelkijkhut in Diependal is dus de toegang via een ondergrondse gang. Zo kom je midden in het gebied zonder iets te verstoren. Vanuit de hut heb je een prachtig uitzicht over de vloeivelden. In de zomer broedt hier de Mergulhão-de-pescoço-ruivo, maar je kunt hier ook Mergulhão-de-pescoço-preto verwachten.
