"De Plantage" is an old city park, located on the eastern side of the city center of Culemborg. The park consists of a small, (mainly) oak forest with high undergrowth, ponds and clearings. The ponds are mainly used by large groups of Pato-real and smaller numbers of Galeirão-comum and Galinha-d'água. If you're lucky, you'll find a Guarda-rios-comum or a Alvéola-cinzenta passes you overhead. The small forested areas are the most important element of the park. During the breeding season, many common songbirds use the area as breeding habitat, like Felosa-comum and Toutinegra-de-barrette-preto. Also, Pica-pau-verde, Trepadeira-azul and Trepadeira-comum are often found in these areas. Coruja-do-mato and Bufo-pequeno breed in the forested area and small numbers Garça-real breed in the trees adjacent to the ponds. In the center of the area, a nesting tree of a Cegonha-branca is present.
During autumn migration and winter, the forested areas are used by large flocks of thrushes and finches, like Bico-grossudo, Tentilhão-montês and Tordo-ruivo-comum. Also Estrelinha-de-poupa are often found in large numbers in mixed flocks of (mainly) tits and thrushes. Within these mixed flocks, species like Estrelinha-de-cabeça-listada and Chapim-preto can be encountered. The surrounding pastures are used by flocks of Pombo-bravo, Gralha-calva and Garça-branca-grande.

Nederlands: De Plantage is een oude stadspark, gelegen ten oosten van het stadscentrum van Culemborg. Het park bestaat uit een klein (voornamelijk) eikenbos met hoog opgaande ondergroei (struiken), enkele vijvers en open plekken. Op de vijvers kun je grote groepen Pato-real en in mindere mate Galeirão-comum en Galinha-d'água. Met een beetje geluk kun je hier ook de Guarda-rios-comum of eenAlvéola-cinzenta aantreffen. Het belangrijkste onderdeel van het park zijn de bosschages en de hoge eikenbomen. Tijdens het broedseizoen kun je hier veel algemene soorten broedvogels vinden, zoals Felosa-comum en Toutinegra-de-barrette-preto. Ook soorten als Pica-pau-verde, Trepadeira-azul en Trepadeira-comum worden regelmatig hier aangetroffen. Coruja-do-mato en Bufo-pequeno broeden in het gebied en enkeleGarça-real broeden in de bomen langs de vijver. Er staat ook een boom met een groot ooievaarsnest in de top waar elk jaar een koppeltje Cegonha-branca is te vinden.
Tijdens de najaarstrek en de winter is het gebied zeer in trek bij grote groepen lijsters en vinken, zoals Bico-grossudo, Tentilhão-montês en Tordo-ruivo-comum. Ook Estrelinha-de-poupa kan regelmatig tussen grote groepen mezen en lijsters worden aangetroffen. Andere schaarsere soorten die in deze groepen kunnen worden ontdekt zijn Estrelinha-de-cabeça-listada en Chapim-preto. Het omliggende gebied bestaat uit voornamelijk akkers en weilanden en is zeer geschikt voor groepen Pombo-bravo, Gralha-calva en Garça-branca-grande.

The park can be entered on foot and by bike, but on foot you'll be able to get to the smaller trails in the eastern part of the park. You can walk around the park in less than an hour (when birding) and is about a kilometer long. There's a carpark in the northwestern side, near the entrance of the cemetery (see the P on the map). Just follow the paved trails into the park and you'll find your way around it. On the trail in the northeastern part, there's a good vantage point to take a look over the pastures in northeastern direction. The park is only accessable between sunrise and sunset.

Nederlands: het park kan zowel te voet als met de fiets worden betreden, echter kun je te voet ook enkele kleinere wandelpaden in het oosten van het park betreden. Je kunt een ronde rondom het park wandelen in minder dan een uur (al vogelend) en de route is ongeveer een km lang. Er is een parkeerplaats aan de noordwest zijde van het pakr nabij de ingang van de begraafplaats (zie kaart). Vanaf het pad aan de noordzijde kun je goed de akkers en weilanden richting het noordoosten bekijken. Het park is alleen toegankelijk tussen zonsopkomst en zonsondergang.
