In the Merzouga region you can find desert specialties such as Noitibó-egípcio, Toutinegra-do-sara, Pardal-do-deserto, Abelharuco-de-garganta-vermelha, Cortiçol-coroado and Pharaoh Eagle-Owl. The little gerbil (Jaculus jaculus) can be found on a nocturnal excursion.

Coming from the north you drive on the asphalt road N13 Erfoud via Rissani to Merzouga. Since some species are very difficult to find themselves and you have to drive partly through the sandy desert, I recommend the Desert Day Trip from Gayuinbirding (see the link below). Within a day they can reliably show all the birds in the region.
