The village of Lapmezciems is located in a great area for birding. The west side of the village borders directly on the birdrich Lake Kanieris (described in a separate entry on Birdingplaces), the east side of Lapmezciems is on the Gulf of Riga. In the direct surroundings of the village you can see birds like Garça-branca-grande, Cisne-vulgar, Águia-rabalva, Pato-branco, Eider-edredão, Pato-fusco, Pato-de-cauda-afilada, Guarda-rios-comum, Cegonha-preta and Alcatraz-comum.
