Descrição
Maji Moto hot spring is located on the edge of a Masai village and like a little green oasis in the African steppe. A small area around the spring is surrounded by large trees and dense vegetation. Beyond that, it's an open savannah landscape with many thorny shrubs. The low hillsides bordering the hot spring on one side are more green and vegetated. The area around the spring and on the surrounding hillsides is teeming with birds. Also a good idea to check out the lake just north of the hot spring. You can explore the area easily on foot. The people of the village are friendly and welcoming and it is quite okay to walk around. Birds you can observe include Purple Grenadier, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, D'Arnaud's Barbet, Chinspot Batis, African Black-headed Oriole, Brown-crowned Tchagra, Hildebrandt's Starling, Amethyst Sunbird, Red-fronted Barbet and Brimstone Canary.

Acesso
The village of Maji Moto is located 40 km south of the city of Narok. From Nairobi it is a 3-hour drive and it is a 1-hour drive from Masai Mara. Good to know: the last 8 km from the main road to Maji Moto is on an unpaved road that is often in poor condition. A 4WD or a car with high clearance is therefore recommended. The hot spring is located on the edge of the village. You can stay overnight in the nearby Maji Moto Eco Camp, which is a basic but beautiful campsite on top of the hill near Maji Moto village, overlooking the savannah and the Loita Hills. They offer full-board accommodation in tents.
