Spring and autumn are best for this oasis. Passerines include Chasco-ruivo, Picanço-barreteiro, White-eared Bulbul, Cotovia-de-poupa, Toutinegra-de-cabeça-preta, Toutinegra-oriental and Toutinegra-tomilheira. Wetland birds include 3 species of egret, Franga-d'água-grande, Franga-d'água-bastarda, Codornizão, Socó-taquari, Garça-roxa and Papa-ratos, Cegonha-preta and Cegonha-branca. In the surrounding desert there may be Codorniz, Alcaravão, Grifo-comum, Tartaranhão-de-peito-branco, Águia de Bonelli, peito-rosado-do-sinai, Desert Owl and Tristram's Starling. There is a raised walkway, hides and a cycle track.

By road the site is 70 miles east of Amman, where day tours, car hire and taxi hire are available. Advice is to carry plenty of water and avoid midday heat. The cycle route is 12 km and the raised walkway 3/4 of a km.
