The Stagni di Marceddì and Corru S'Ittiri form part of a Natura 2000 protected area. These lagoons are a mosaic of brackish and freshwater habitats, shaped by natural inlets, sandbars, and artificial dikes. The shallow lagoons attract waders, gulls, and ducks. Birds you can observe include Pernilongo, Marrequinha-comum, Pato-branco, Tarambola-cinzenta, Borrelho-grande-de-coleira, Maçarico-real, Maçarico-das-rochas, Perna-vermelha-comum, Maçarico-bastardo, Perna-verde-comum, Rola-do-mar, Combatente, Pilrito-pequeno, Petinha-dos-campos, Cartaxo-comum, Garça-branca-pequena, and Gaivota-de-bico-fino.
