The Vendicari reserve is located in a strategic position on the long migration route that leads to the large wetlands of Tunisia. It represents the last stop for aquatic birds, before the definitive journey of about 350 km towards the African coasts. Riserva di Vendicari has a very beautiful landscape where you can observe a lot of birds. Observation hides are can be found at the three salt lakes that are separated from the sea and are ideal for undisturbed observation. Flamingo-comum and many different waders can be seen at almost any time of the year. But he month of December, as well as the spring season, is the most interesting period. Italiano: La Riserva naturale orientata Oasi Faunistica di Vendicari estesa per 1.500 ettari è una riserva naturale orientata che sorge nella provincia di Siracusa, precisamente tra Noto e Marzamemi, particolarmente importante per la presenza di pantani che fungono da luogo di sosta nella migrazione degli uccelli. La riserva di Vendicari si trova in una posizione strategica rispetto alla lunga rotta che porta verso le grandi zone umide della Tunisia, in quanto rappresenta per gli uccelli acquatici l’ultima sosta con le caratteristiche appropriate, prima del definitivo viaggio di circa 350km verso le coste africane.

You can reach Vendicari by car along the A18 Messina-Catania-Syracuse motorway or the A19 Palermo-Catania-Syracuse motorway, taking the "Bivio Cassibile" exit and continuing along the State Road 115. From here you have to reach the provincial road Pachino-Noto, the SP19. Along this road in the direction of "Torre Vendicari", you will find directions to the entrances of the Reserve. The nature reserve can be visited for a small fee through one of the five official entrances. Note that some roads are in a bad condition. Click on a P in the map for directions to the parking you prefer.

Italiano: Se vi trovate già in Sicilia, potete raggiunge Vendicari in auto percorrendo l’autostrada A18 Messina-Catania-Siracusa o l’autostrada A19 Palermo-Catania-Siracusa, imboccando l’uscita “Bivio Cassibile” e proseguendo per la Strada Statale 115. Da qui bisogna raggiungere la strada provinciale Pachino-Noto, la SP19. Percorrendo questa strada in direzione “Torre Vendicari“, troverete le indicazioni stradali per gli ingressi della Riserva. Tutti gli accessi di Vendicari dispongono di un comodo parcheggio attrezzato.
