The river Segno flows into the sea in the town of Vado Ligure. Birdwatching around the mouth of the river Segno (Foce del Segno) is particularly good for species of ducks, seabirds or other wintering birds. Seagulls (Guincho-comum, Gaivota-de-patas-amarelas, gaivota-da-asa-escura), loons (Mobêlha-árctica and rarely Mobêlha-grande) and grebes (Mergulhão-de-crista, Mergulhão-de-pescoço-castanho, Mergulhão-de-pescoço-preto) are especially frequent. While the beach is often frequented by waders, herons and other small passerines associated with marshy areas. In 2025 a specimen of (possible) wild Ganso-de-faces-negras was observed.

Acesso
The basin of the stream Segno is largely included in the municipality of Vado Ligure (and in the past in the municipality of Segno, now abolished), and to a lesser extent affects the municipalities of Quiliano and Bergeggi. It borders to the north with the basin of the Quiliano stream, to the west with that of the Sciusa and to the south with that of some smaller streams that flow directly into the sea.
