Descrição
Sattal is a birder's heaven if you come at the right time of year. The name means 'seven lakes', and since the town and its immediate surroundings spread over quite an altitude range, it offers lots of bird species, several of which are hard to see elsewhere. From beauties such as the Indian Paradise-Flycatcher or the Red-billed Leiothrix to exotic species like the Kalij Pheasant or the Speckled Piculet, there are plenty of fascinating birds here.
Much of the area around Sattal is forested, so you also find plenty of owls, woodpeckers, and may other species of forest birds. It is worth spending at least a few days in the area.
