Descrição
Höfði Woodland Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Mývatn and consists of a beautiful forested area adjacent to the lake. Several pathways lead through a diverse habitat with scattered trees, strange rock formations and great views over the lake. The park is a good spot for local breeding birds, such as Pintarroxo-de-queixo-preto, Tordo-ruivo-comum and Carriça. During migration, anything can show up here! Especially finches, like Tentilhão-comum, Tentilhão-montês and Dom-fafe have been seen in the past.
The rocky parts are particular good for Lagópode-branco. The area is also used as hunting ground by Falcão-gerifalte.
The views over the lake provide observations of many species of waterbird, like Pato da Islândia, Zarro-bastardo, Falaropo-de-bico-fino, Merganso-de-poupa and Pato-de-cauda-afilada.
