The road between Mavria and Platania is a great road to stop and drive along, and to observe many local breeding species, like Felosa-das-oliveiras, Toutinegra-oriental and Toutinegra-carrasqueira. The small houses and farms a worth a check for Mocho-galego, and the scattered trees are perfect for Cotovia-pequena. The scrubs and bushes are great for many species of shrike, like Picanço-barreteiro and Picanço-núbio. The rocky outcrops are great for Trepadeira-rupestre and Escrevedeira-cinzenta.
During migration, the area is worth to check for species like Rolieiro-comum, Abelharuco-comum and Papa-figos. Raptors are always present, and tend to hang around the hill tops, like Búteo-mouro.
